Chef Rante, the owner of the store, has been in the food service industry for 25 years. And for 18 years, he worked as the chief chef of a Japanese restaurant named Kimono Ken. However, he has always been dreaming of starting his own food business. So in 2019, Chef Donburi was established.

It started as an unofficial home-based food delivery service, catering to only friends and families. Not until 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Chef Donburi officially operated as an online food business. The very first branch of the store was opened in February 11, 2022 in Malibay, Pasay City.
Chef Donburi in the beginning mainly offers rice meals and maki. The menu expanded in 2020 with added meals such as donburi, bento, maki, salad and platter. It offers a restaurant quality Japanese meal with an affordable price. Not just the food but the ambience of the place adds quality to the overall experience of the customer.
